Write the Damn Thing

As the wise Shia LaBeouf once famously said: “just do it". Though this was largely seen as comical, the guy has a point. I could say I’m a new writer and while part of that is true, it also really isn’t. I’ve been writing as a passion since I could pick up a pen and scribble something legible. Something I haven’t done often however, is showcase my work and that’s where my newbie status kicks in.

I’m not the only one who deals with insecurity fueled inefficiency and we see it time and time again in the writing community. Showing others your writing is like peeling away at the guard you’ve built up, showing your most vulnerable self and how fun does that sound?

I’ve had this Medium account for a few weeks now, endlessly scrolling and reading articles like this to try to pump me up to write my first piece. In actuality, while they were helpful pieces to learn from, you just need to write the damn thing.

So don’t listen to the voice in your head that tells you your thoughts and feelings aren’t worth sharing. Pen to paper, fingertips to keyboard. Whatever your process is, your time is now. No, seriously. Just do it.
